St. Tammany ZIP Coverage Ledger
Twenty ZIP codes appear in current official-government references for St. Tammany Parish service. The place names below are postal or likely community labels, not surveyed boundaries. Standard delivery, rural routes, and box-focused codes behave differently. Verify a specific mailing address through USPS, then use the Assessor or GIS for its physical parcel.
| ZIP Code | Areas Covered | Post Office | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 70420 | Abita Springs | Abita Springs | Standard delivery |
| 70431 | Bush | Rural service near Sun | Do not confuse Bush with the Sun route |
| 70433 | Covington | Covington | Standard delivery and parish-seat offices |
| 70434 | Covington | Covington | PO-box or specialized postal use |
| 70435 | Covington and Folsom-area rural routes | Verify by address | City label is not a boundary |
| 70437 | Folsom | Folsom | Standard north-parish delivery |
| 70445 | Lacombe | Lacombe | CDP and postal place differ from city limits |
| 70447 | Madisonville | Madisonville | Check physical situs in GIS |
| 70448 | Mandeville | Mandeville | Not every mailing address is inside city limits |
| 70452 | Pearl River | Pearl River | Town and rural east-parish context |
| 70457 | Saint Benedict and Covington-area PO route | Verify by address | PO or specialized postal point |
| 70458 | Slidell | Main Slidell | Compare city, ward, and court routes |
| 70459 | Slidell | Slidell | PO-box or specialized postal use |
| 70460 | Slidell and West Slidell | West Slidell | Municipal and parish service can differ |
| 70461 | Slidell area | Verify by address | Check city boundary and current assignment |
| 70463 | Sun | Sun | Rural route with nearby postal-place labels |
| 70464 | Talisheek | Talisheek | Unincorporated community |
| 70469 | Covington | Covington | PO-box or specialized postal use |
| 70470 | Mandeville | Mandeville | PO-box or specialized postal use |
| 70471 | Mandeville | Mandeville | Check parish road and city boundary in GIS |
This is a coverage aid, not a saved USPS bulk export. The research did not retain a complete current city-and-state export, so exact assignment should be checked again before publishing a mailing list. That freshness check is especially important for rural routes and specialized postal points.
Covington ZIP Codes Need Context
Covington illustrates why one city name can require several record paths. ZIP 70433 covers standard delivery and appears on major parish offices. ZIPs 70434 and 70469 serve box or specialized postal uses. ZIP 70435 reaches rural Covington and Folsom-area labels, while 70457 is tied to Saint Benedict and a Covington-area postal route.
A box ZIP cannot establish the situs address, which means the physical location of a parcel. Search the Assessor by owner, street, or assessment number, then compare the returned situs and mailing fields. The two addresses may differ without either being wrong.
Slidell ZIP Directory Layers
East St. Tammany uses 70458 for standard Slidell delivery, 70460 for West Slidell, 70461 for more Slidell-area delivery, and 70459 for box or specialized postal service. Lacombe 70445 and Pearl River 70452 appear as nearby places on official postal location pages, but a nearby office is not a boundary line.
The distinction affects records. Slidell City Court serves Wards 8 and 9, while parish district-court records route through the St. Tammany Clerk and 22nd Judicial District Court. A Slidell postal label alone does not tell which court, police, council, or tax district holds a file.
The official Slidell post office record provides a useful current postal checkpoint.

The facility record confirms the postal point, while parish GIS must answer questions about the parcel and government boundary.
Rural St. Tammany ZIP Places
North-parish and rural codes make postal neighbors easy to misread. Sun uses 70463, Talisheek uses 70464, Bush uses 70431, Folsom uses 70437, and Abita Springs uses 70420. Madisonville 70447 and Pearl River 70452 add town labels, while Lacombe 70445 is a census-designated place. Talisheek is unincorporated.
USPS nearby-location pages show Bush, Talisheek, and Bogalusa around Sun; Abita Springs and Sun around Talisheek; and Saint Benedict and Madisonville around Covington. Those lists help find the next postal office. They do not draw delivery or parish lines.
The Sun post office record captures this rural postal context.

The nearby-place list should prompt another exact-address search, not a claim that all listed communities share one ZIP.
Search St. Tammany by ZIP
A ZIP code directory narrows the search, then the record custodian supplies the person or parcel evidence. USPS validates postal format. The voter portal accepts ZIP as a name disambiguator or part of an address query. The Assessor returns mailing and situs ZIP after an owner or address search. GIS is best for the physical parcel and legal layers.
- Run USPS By Address with the street and city/state or the street and ZIP. Keep the standardized result.
- Search the Assessor by owner, address, or assessment number. Compare its mailing ZIP with the situs address.
- Use SOS voter search with first name, last name, and ZIP, or use the address route with ZIP, address, apartment or lot, and city.
- Open GIS to check the parcel, municipality, subdivision, tax district, ward, and other physical layers.
Once the postal area has narrowed to one road, the St. Tammany Street Directory handles the street-level record chain.
ZIP Search Fields That Matter
Each portal uses ZIP differently. Treat the field as part of that system's query rather than a universal geography filter.
| Official system | ZIP-related inputs | What the result means |
|---|---|---|
| USPS By Address | Street plus city/state or ZIP | Standard postal address; not proof of occupancy |
| USPS By City & State | City and state | ZIP codes used for that postal city |
| USPS Cities by ZIP | ZIP | Postal city labels and aliases |
| SOS voter name search | First name, last name, ZIP | Current registration lead subject to protected fields |
| SOS voter address search | ZIP, address, apartment/lot, city | Voter information associated with the query |
| Assessor and GIS | Owner, street, assessment, parcel or map selection | Mailing/situs comparison and physical geography |
Do not promise a ZIP filter where none exists. The current Assessor screen leads with assessment and address-oriented searches, then shows ZIP in the record. Parish Planning or Permits may require a focused public-record request for a ZIP plus street, subdivision, or assessment range.
ZIP Is Not a Precinct
A ZIP, ward, precinct, council district, school district, tax district, and municipality are separate layers. Louisiana voter-list products can include many district fields, but a postal code cannot predict them. Residence address controls voter geography, while a PO box does not establish residence.
The St. Tammany Registrar announced polling changes in January 2026 for several precincts and a new 909A split. Use the current SOS portal or Registrar confirmation whenever precinct or polling facts matter. Hard-coding an old polling site beside a ZIP would mix a changing election record with a postal label.
St. Tammany Geography at Scale
The parish had 264,570 people in the 2020 Census and an estimated 279,108 in July 2025 across 845.26 square miles of land. That scale helps explain why the ZIP code directory needs both dense city labels and rural postal routes. It does not turn population totals into a resident list.
The official Census QuickFacts profile supplies the parishwide measures.

Parishwide figures provide scale, while USPS and GIS still decide the postal and physical location of one address.
St. Tammany ZIP Boundary Mismatches
Mandeville offers a clear mismatch: 70448 and 70471 support standard delivery labels, while 70470 is box-focused, yet not every Mandeville mailing address lies inside city limits. Covington has a similar mix across standard, rural, and box codes. Slidell's standard and West Slidell labels can cross a different set of municipal, ward, and service lines.
Use USPS for mail, the Assessor and GIS for the parcel, the Registrar for precinct and districts, and a city or parish office for jurisdiction. Historical directories may also group Covington, Mandeville, Slidell, or “New Orleans Suburban” in ways that predate today's ZIP assignments.
- ZIP vs ZIP+4
- A five-digit ZIP covers a delivery area. The extra four digits narrow delivery to a smaller segment.
- PO-box ZIP
- A code used mainly or specially for post-office boxes, not a map of physical homes.
- Unique ZIP
- A code assigned for one organization or high-volume recipient. No unique St. Tammany code was established in the research.
- Carrier route
- A mail-delivery sequence within a ZIP. It is a postal route, not a legal neighborhood.
Boundary check. Never use a St. Tammany ZIP code alone to claim city residence, parcel ownership, voter district, or current occupancy.
